Jason and Jodi Nelson joyfully share all of life as husband and wife. Their life together is focused on a love for Jesus and people. They met as college sweethearts at Wartburg College in Iowa and have been together ever since. Jason and Jodi are blessed to have three children – Zeb (16 years), Aliza (14 years) and Jozef (8 years). Their family has deep roots in Iowa and its humble and hard-working culture. Yet, they couldn’t be more excited about going to the magnificent city of Chicago.
The passion of the Nelson’s is the collective of God’s people called the church. They have served together, and individually, in virtually every aspect of the church. For the past decade, they have given their lives to the vision of Third Church in Pella, Iowa, where Jason has served on the staff team as an executive leader and teaching pastor. While serving at Third Church, he completed biblical and theological studies at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan. Jodi has served in worship services and children’s ministry over the years, and her favorite way to serve is discipling women.
Jason and Jodi share many favorite things, like being with people, drinking coffee, staying up late talking, reading books and listening to music. On top of that, Jason likes sports and fitness, writing about life and faith and being spontaneous. Jodi likes anything creative, talking to other women and of course, shopping. The Nelsons’ joke about having a hidden agenda in moving to Chicago, and it has to do with Lake Michigan. Their favorite place to go as a family is the beaches of West Michigan to rest and play.
